REALTOR® Safety Month is Here!
The month of September is REALTOR® Safety Month. Check out NAR’s safety web pages for their 56 tips on REALTORS® Safety. This can help bring an awareness, provide some knowledge and empower all REALTORS® on safety.
A few key points to keep top of mind when showing a property:
• Always let someone know where you are going and when you will be back.
• Whenever possible, take your own car to a showing and when you leave your car, lock it.
• Show properties before dark and/or keep all lights on and all curtains or blinds are to be left open.
• When showing a home, always have your prospects walk in front of you, rather than lead them. Direct them from a position slightly behind them.
While every real estate agent should take a basic self-defense course, the primary goal in any threatening situation is to escape from immediate danger and call for help. Visit NAR’s REALTORS® safety website at www.nar.realtor/safety for more tips on safe showings, open houses, protecting or blocking identity theft, how not to be a target for harassment or stalking and much more information on the important topic of REALTOR® safety.
